Coderetreat is a really fun day with the goal to improve our coding skills and learn from each other.
There will be groups from all over the world participating.
It follows a particular structure:
9:30am: Arrival and breakfast
10am: Let the coding begin!
12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch
5pm: Finish and find a pub
Do I need to bring anything?
Yes! Please bring your laptop and have it set up with development environments for your favourite programming languages. We will be using test driven development, so make sure to hook up a test framework, too.
How much programming experience do I need?
You need to have some experience with at least one programming language. But it doesn't matter if you are still trying to understand the ins and outs of your first language or you have 20 years of experience in all sorts of languages - everyone will learn something new during this event.
Can I attend if I'm not a member of Queer Code or Ladies of Code?
Sorry, unfortunately you can only attend our event if you're a member of our communities. But there are a lot of other Coderetreats in London on the same day, so have a look on meetup.com.
Will food be provided?
Yes! 8th Light will be providing food for everyone, free of charge. We're ordering some basics for breakfast (like bagels, yoghurt, fruit, toast and juices) and lunch will be catered. Tea, coffee and snacks will be available throughout the day.
Do I need to stay the whole day?
Ideally we'd like everyone to attend the full day so as not to disrupt the event. It's important to arrive on time so that you can participate in the introduction session. If you need to leave early then please let us know beforehand.
How accessible is the venue?
We'll be on the 2nd floor of the Makers Academy building which has step-free access via a lift.
Are there gender-neutral toilets?
All attendees of this event must abide by our Code of Conduct.
